My Entrepreneurship Story

One of my good friends from back home (Jacksonville) had a parent that started a really successful business. His father did not go to college and ended up working as a pest control technician. He found subtle flaws in that business and figured out ways that he could make the business better. He decided to found Royal Pest Services and took out a risky loan and put in ridiculous hours to bring his business to where he wanted it. The risk was worth the reward and years of hard work lead to a super successful business that brought monetary rewards and emotional rewards of satisfaction. I have no real entrepreneurship experience of my own but his story let me know that hard work has potential to turn a simple idea into something big. I enrolled in this class really just because I need the credit towards my major but I definitely interested in it and how the mindset of an entrepreneur can influence my daily life.

  1. Hey man, that’s a good story, it always makes me happy to hear successful small business stories for others, even if it's not about them directly. The real world is harsh, mom and pap businesses close all the time, leaving families in debt and having to start from scratch. However, if the nitch is there, you have an opportunity to start a business and watch it grow.

  2. Hey Logan,
I think that story is the definition of the journey many entrepreneurs hope for and for it to be successful speaks volumes to the determination your friend's Dad put into his business. I also think we share similar reasons for taking this class, as I too find the entrepreneur's mindset interesting and applicable while also checking a box on the way to my degree.
